The Ballymoney Badgers headed down to Newry on Saturday the 19th of May to take on the newly formed Armagh Stars who will be entering the NIIHA league along with the badgers in the 2007-08 season.
The Badgers B team were the first to play and they faced off against the Armagh B team at 1.30. Quickly taking the lead on this unfamiliar rubber surface they rose above the Stars and finished with the final score 11 - 1. Man of the match was awarded to Dave Lindros as this was his first match in nets for the Badgers, only allowing one goal, well done Lindros son.
Now that the B teams were finished the A teams took to the rink for their match, this was to be the first these two teams had seen of each other and no one quite knew what to expect.
The first of three 15 minute long periods resulted in a 2 - 1 lead by the badgers with goals from Dave Clark and James Boyd. The Armagh stars came shooting out of their bench for the second period and without any hesitation they tied the game at 2 - 2.
Into the third period the Badgers newly found player James Diver found the back of the net on two astounding goals to give the badgers the 2 goal lead.
Armagh tightened things up late in the third and scored another goal to answer Diver but it was too little too late for the stars as the whistle blew in Newry the Badgers walked away with two wins to add to their rapidly growing collection.
